Uttoxeter CC v Brailsford (away)
Uttoxeter suffered a resounded defeat to fellow promotions chasers Brailsford in what was their worst performance of the year.
Captain Walmsley lost the toss and was surprisingly asked to have a bat on what looked to be a very batsman friendly wicket.
The innings got off to a terrible start and never really got any better.
Rob Birch was the first man to go, he was caught at square leg for his only 0 of the season.
After Birch the wickets kept tumbling and Uttoxeter found themselves in serious trouble at 12-3 with Wheeldon and Hayes joining Birch in the hut.
Bailey, Powell (23) and Mellor (22) tried to rebuild the innings but it was to no avail and when Bailey was run out after a mix up with Powell for 11 Uttoxeter got the feeling it may not be their day.
Alan Bennett played a sensible knock before a rush of blood saw him bowled! Ash Young and Jon Walmsley offered good late resistance before Young, trying to force the rate chipped one to mid off. Skelham only lasted 2 balls leaving Walmsley stranded on 26 Not Out.
With only 131 on the board it was never going to be enough on a very batsman friendly wicket. The bowlers all toiled in vain to make a break trough and pick some extra points however with no runs to defend it was all in vain and Brailsford completed a resounding 10 wicket victory!
The season has now reached its half way point Uttoxeter can still be pleased with their progress in a new league and will look to push on again with an away trip to Castle Donnington on Saturday!
